Workload proves Summer is over
Summer was nice but now it’s officially over and I know that because my workload has significantly increased. The arts season in Miami is in full swing and so are fall festivals, pumpkin patches and Halloween/trick or treating events. I encourage you to visit Artburst Miami to catch up on the arts and South Florida on the Cheap for the rest! I’m sure you can tell from reading my blog I’m proud to contribute to those two websites. I hope you’ll spend some time on them and encourage friends and family to do the same.
Here’s some other suggestions I’ve got…
Head to Emerson Dorsch Gallery on Sunday as one of your stops on the monthly Progressive Art Brunch happening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are nearly a dozen galleries participating. We were at EDG Saturday night for their current exhibition featuring works by artists Jessica Gispert and Eleen Lin and it’s another stunner. Afterwards we grabbed dinner at Tran An, one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Miami. I highly recommend well, anything on the menu. Yes, it’s that good.
Miami Dolphins win!!!
Sunday Nick and I watched the Miami Dolphins trounce the Carolina Panthers at Hard Rock Stadium. The game got off to a rocky start but they turned it up and never relented. They’re now first in the AFC East. This Sunday will be the big test against the very talented Philadelphia Eagles in Philly.
Wednesday night I went to the Oolite Arts art opening for their newest exhibition “Bounce.” I hadn’t been to the space in years and it was so great to be back. The show is a blend of sculpture, mixed media works and photography. I had some great conversations with both a former co-worker who was in attendance as well as with one of the studio artists Adrienne Rose Gionta. Adrienne was a sweetheart and is making some very interesting and beautiful art using AI. She even created my Avatar, right there in her studio that night. Click on the link above to check out her Instagram.
Then this morning, I made a bunch of PB&J sandwiches and dropped them off at a nearby Community Fridge.
I’m really excited to share my artist profile on Claudio Marcotulli, an article that was in the works for a while. I was so happy to finally see it published. Click here to read it, I hope you enjoy.
Elizabeth’s lovely flower, fruit and vase still life.
Finally, I had one of those proud Mom moments where I was in awe of my daughter Elizabeth’s talent after seeing a painting she did for her art class. I’m not at all surprised she got an A.
I also took several really nice walks this week, a great way to get some fresh air and get away from the computer screen. The weather’s been so amazing!
That’s all for this week, I’ll see you right back here next Friday.
