Weekend getaway and hubby’s birthday

Last Saturday started with a drive to Vero Beach where we spent a lovely weekend getting to know the area.

We started off with a lovely lunch at Riverside Cafe right on the water followed by a nice walk underneath a lovely bridge where we met a Vero Beach native who was there fishing with his son. We then went back to the hotel, took a swim in the pool, a little nap and grabbed some dinner at Mulligan’s Beach House.

Beautiful sculpture at Vero Beach Museum of Art’s Sculpture Park

On Sunday, we explored the cute downtown area, walked on the beach, I checked out the really nice Vero Beach Museum of Art while the guys grabbed lunch. When they were done, they picked me up at the Museum and we headed back home with a stop at Blowing Rocks Preserve in Jupiter.

Monday it was back home for a relatively quiet week, except for that day being my husband Vance’s birthday. I made him one of his favorites, chicken parmesan and we had some cake to celebrate. I gifted him a nice new set of irons for his golf set, something he’s wanted for a long time.

Wednesday night when I went to The Sylvester Bar in the Midtown/Wynwood area for my friend Amber Love Bond’s book launch of “Drink Like a Local Miami: A Field Guide to Miami’s Best Bars.” Although the A/C was broken, it was fun for a quick half hour after which I had to leave. But it was nice to get a copy of her book with a nice inscription.

Deliciousness from Zak the Baker in Wynwood.

Yesterday, I took a tour of a great printmaking exhibition at the UM Gallery of Art in Wynwood, a place I’d never been to. I’m writing about the exhibition so I will share that article when it’s published. After, I walked across the street to Zak the Baker for some great pastries.

And tonight, I’m excited to see the play “Defending a Cavewoman” at Actors’ Playhouse. I’m going with my sister Susy. Click here to read a preview of the show.

That’s it for this week. I’ll see you in your inbox next Friday. Until then… be well.
