Homeruns, good friends and good times

Happy Friday, the weekend’s here and I’m back in your inbox.

Let’s kick off this blog talking about Saturday’s adventures in Wynwood with Monica. We did a little thrifting at the Little River Flea which was thankfully held indoors at the lovely Arlo Wynwood boutique hotel. We then went to Oasis Wynwood and grabbed some delicious sushi at Sushi OG and cool, creamy ice cream for dessert from Papi Churro. See the photos of both above. Check out the Oasis Wynwood site for the menus for each of those.

Sunday we went to the ballpark and watched the Marlins demolish the Phillies 7-3. The Fish smacked four homers outta the park. We had a blast with Rick and Adina and afterwards the four of us headed to Doce Provisions (yes I mentioned that great Little Havana spot a few weeks ago) for dinner where Kevin and Michelle met us. The six of us had a fantastic time drinking sangria, eating lots of tostones, some topped with vaca frita, birria tacos and burrata topped with a mango puree.

Wednesday morning I had the pleasure of running into Geoffrey Anderson at Starbucks. Geoffrey and his wife Dianne are the fantastic food blogger duo known as Miami Food Pug. If you want to know what’s going in the Miami foodie world, check out their blog.

On Wednesday night I drove Nicholas out to Bird Bowl for his outing with his Best Buddies friends. His first time up he bowled a strike! And he’d already been to Bird Bowl during the day with the gang from Bootcamp where he bowled three strikes and several spares. He’s the Kingpin!

Aside from all the social activities, I had a wonderful week interviewing some fantastic individuals for several articles that will be published soon. And I had the pleasure of discovering the non-profit organization Voices for Children which is run by Kadie Black, one my niece Nicole’s best friends.

As always, I’m sharing with you my latest article for the Artburst Miami blog about the great annual Breakfast with the Arts & Hospitality. Click here to read it.

This weekend we’re heading to Vero Beach so I’ll share fun pictures from our getaway in next Friday’s blog.

Surfside Beach, my oasis!

Sauteed salmon with shallots and artichokes on a bed of smashed curried chick peas and scallion garnish.

And here are some parting shots of the beach, a yummy lunch I prepared and the lovely sunflowers my sister Susy gifted me.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you again next week!
