Fireworks and The Cure

L-R Monica, me, Kevin & Michelle, anxiously awaiting The Cure to come out on stage.

The Cure!

Saturday night was a memorable one, so memorable. That’s when I was transported to the world of Robert Smith and his poetic, mesmerizing lyrics as lead singer and founder of The Cure, one of my favorite bands of all time. The concert was at FLA Live Arena where I along with Monica, Michelle and Kevin, were transfixed by the music and the visuals on stage. The place was jam packed and just being together, singing along, clapping and cheering made it a fantabulous Saturday night.

Fourth of July sunset view from the pool at beautiful Casa Wutzler.

Tuesday was a relaxing Fourth of July at Casa Wutzler where Vance, Nicholas, Elizabeth and I enjoyed Kevin and Michelle’s wonderful hospitality, magnificent pool, yummy food and spectacular fireworks. Thanks again Kevin and Michelle. When we got home, we shot off our own fireworks, just some piddly ones we bought at Target LOL and no match for Kevin’s pyrotechnics display.

Yesterday I met my friend Marcia Gomez, PR extraordinaire for our regular lunch meet up. I always love catching up with Marcia who is a Communications professor at the University of Miami and has her own company Blank Canvas Communications. It was an afternoon of great conversation and always on point Cuban food at La Carreta, a Miami classic. I had a nice piece of mahi mahi with moros and yuca and had plenty leftover for dinner.

Before I forget, I want to take a moment to congratulate my friend Ruben Diaz whose play “Grow” is being presented this weekend on Saturday and Sunday as part of the M1A - Miami One-Acts Summer Session 23 at Main Street Players Playhouse in Miami Lakes. Click here for details and bravo Ruben!

I also want to share my latest post for the Artburst Miami blog on a very cool creative space Moonlighter FabLab on Miami Beach. It was a great interview with the founder and I’m excited to share it with you and encourage you to check out the space on Miami Beach. Click here to read the article.

And… if you want to know what’s going on in Miami’s arts scene I encourage you to subscribe to our weekly Artburst Miam newsletter which I put together every Friday. Just go to artburstmiami.com and click on Sign Up on the home page.

And while I’m sharing I encourage you to visit some of my favorite places around Miami including FIU Wolfsonian Museum on Miami Beach, Miami Dade College’s Museum of Art & Design at the Freedom Tower, Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood, just to name a few.

Lastly, if you’re looking for some daily inspiration I suggest you check out the website Daily Good. Click here to look around and if you like what you see, subscribe to their daily e-mail where you’ll read some of the most inspiring and touching stories around. I’ve been a subscriber for years and it’s what I look forward to receiving most in my inbox.

And lastly, a few parting food shots of…

My homemade chicken parmesan I made for dinner this week and today’s downpour which I enjoyed looking out on from my window as I worked. Listening to the rain was somewhat soothing.

That’s all for this week. Looking forward to the Marlins game on Sunday followed by dinner with great friends. See ya next Friday!
