Vacay, beach, hikes & more

Over the last two weeks I…

Enjoyed a lovely annual family vacation with my husband Vance’s family in Daytona Beach at Wyndham Vacation Resorts Oceanwalk property. Lots of pool and beach time, lounging around, mini golf and arcade fun, a long morning beach walk with my love and a delicious dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Down the Hatch in Ponce Inlet.

Our gorgeous waterfront view during dinner at Down the Hatch.

View from the observation tower at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter, FL.

Nick, front and center and his Team Florida teammates and coaches with their medals in front of the torch at the Special Olympics USA Games at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL.

Headed to Orlando on a solo road trip to watch my son Nicholas compete in softball at the Special Olympics USA Games and although they came in fourth place they still received a beautiful ribbon at the awards ceremony. Best of all, he had an amazing time with his teammates, went to the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, and got several hits at his games. I was able to enjoy hikes/visits to two wonderful state parks and spend some bonding time with my sister Susy who joined me in Orlando, and my niece Nicole and her lovely family in Merritt Island.

Reconnected with a former work friend Frances Newman, a very talented journalist and writer who I am thrilled to report has completed a novel and three screenplays, one which is in preproduction. Amazing all the way around.

Made plans with our foodie friends Kevin and Michelle to start tackling all the recently Michelin-star restaurants in Miami, can’t wait!

Smiled from ear to ear when my son Michael, an Executive Chef in New York City who recently took leftover food from the restaurant and fed the homeless. He said he was inspired by me which made my heart flutter.

My VantaBlack article in the Sunday edition of The Miami Herald!

And finally, here are links to my latest articles for Artburst Miami. The one on artist VantaBlack was picked up by The Miami Herald in their Sunday arts section as well as The Miami Times! The one on the Coconut Grove Arts Festival scholarships I’m hoping will get picked up by The Miami Herald’s Neighbors section. Click here for Arts Fest article and click here for VantaBlack article.

Thanks as always for reading and have a wonderful weekend and coming week!
