Plays, guitar riffs and food (of course!)

Fun week, busy week, and here’s what went on.

Last Friday night I went on a date night with my husband Vance and we saw the hilarious Summer Shorts 2022 by City Theatre Miami at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Every year we attend and enjoy these short micro-plays, between 6 and 8 of them, that make us laugh but also make us think. Great writing and acting that turns serious on a dime and catches you off guard. Love that! Summer Shorts ends tomorrow so there’s still time to catch it!

After the play we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Barmeli69 where we’d gone to get drinks a few weeks back. The lamb meatballs, tzatziki sauce with warm, crispy pita bread for dipping and roasted cauliflower gratin made the perfect late night meal. (No pics, food was too good).

I also had a wonderful business lunch at Blue Collar Miami with my good friend Marcia Gomez who runs Blank Canvas Communications and is one of the most talented PR people I know. I had a yummy chicken sandwich and delicious roasted Brussels sprouts. (No pics, we were too busy gabbing!)

And my great niece Hailey shredded on guitar at a performance at Guitar Center recently. Click this link to watch her. She’s so talented. I’ll take video of her at her upcoming Girls Rock Camp performance at the Miami Beach Bandshell July 30 and share that too. Keep rockin’ Hailey!

You know too that I always like to share what I’m working on. I’m excited to be working on an article for DISH Miami on female entrepreneurs who are leading the vegan/vegetarian food movement here in Miami. I Interviewed Vidya Shah of Diya Miami, Karla Dascal of Plant Miami at Sacred Space Miami, Veronica Menin of Love Life Cafe, Della Heiman Goldkind of Della Bowls and Alison Burgos founder of the Seed Food and Wine Festival. I loved listening to their stories and even getting the scoop on what they’ve got coming up! Do yourself a favor and click on all the links I’ve provided, I assure you you’ll want to try their food. It’s beautiful and delicious.

Lastly, I’m seriously considering joining the educational team at Exchange for Change who teach creative writing to the encarcerated. I absolutely love what they do and when I congratulated them on the 30K grant they just received they asked when I was gonna come teach! Will try to carve out time and see if I can commit.

As I sit and ponder that last part I wish you all a wonderful weekend and upcoming week. See ya next week in your inbox.

Peace, love and health to all!
