The week that was
As I sit here on a Friday night, I’m enjoying some homemade meatloaf and risotto and preparing to tell you about this past week and a few other things.
I I just got home from opening night of the latest exhibition “This is the time. And this is a record of the time PT3” at Emerson Dorsch Gallery in Little Haiti. An interesting collection of works by various artists, a few in particular with a social justice theme. I recommend you check it out. Click on the link above to read up on it.
This past weekend I went to the matinee showing of Blue Man Group at the Arsht Center and although it wasn’t as fun as the last time I saw them, it was fun to spend time with my best friend Monica. Afterwards I took her to BarMeli 69, the spot I mentioned in last week’s blog and she loved it.
Yesterday was especially busy, conducting interviews for several upcoming articles. I loved speaking to some filmmakers, the owners of a local bike shop and Lourdes Lopez, artistic director of Miami City Ballet. I’m excited to write these articles, some of them dealing with social justice issues, then of course sharing those links with you.
This week I had an article published in Biscayne Times and although it was very stressful for me when it came out, it’s there and that is that. Click here to read it.
That being said, I will only be writing for Biscayne Times a little while longer as I try to TRULY wind down and do less and less.
My goal… more beach time, more seashell collecting, more of my own stories and story ideas. More reading too! I’m such a slow reader but I’m working on it. Currently I’m reading “Future Skinny” by Peter Rosch and “The Leonard Bernstein Letters.” The first one has an unusual, odd, yet interesting plot and it’s become a page turner. The second one is a look into the life of one of our most accomplished composers and personal letters he wrote to his close circle of friends and colleagues over the years.
Oh and this past Monday was Fourth of July and although The Biltmore is a lovely spot to see fireworks, I’d never been and didn’t realize just HOW MANY people would be there. Definitely thanks, but no thanks. Think it’ll be the first and last time for that.
Coming up this weekend…a whole lot of nothing. Fixing up the garage, picking up my Farmer’s Market order and maybe, just maybe, the beach again. Definitely a bike ride and/or walk. Also, probably binge watching “Tehran” on AppleTV.
Thanks so much for reading and wish me luck on my slow inch toward…retirement and more days at the beach and state parks, can’t forget about those!
