New car, familiar faces

This week was a bit stressful but got so much done so feel accomplished all the same. Probably why it was stressful.

I had so many interviews to conduct but they were all wonderful and will hopefully lead to some very fulfilling articles.

Just today I spoke to a couple of enthusiastic, successful and genuinely nice people, one the subject of an upcoming profile, the other of a press release.

I also got a new car this week because my daughter Elizabeth passed her driving test and so inherited my trusty little Toyota Corolla that I drove for 8 years. And so, another stressful moment…buying a car! But…I drove off in a lovely Honda HRV which I’m very happy with. Nicest car I’ve ever had. See my smiling face right before I drive it off the lot in the picture above.

L-R that’s Jean Blackwell Font of Warehouse 4726 and my Blog Editor with Artburst Miami, me, Retta Logan of A3 (formerly AAA Flag and Banner) and Lisa Palley of Palley Promotes.

Then yesterday, I attended an event hosted by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau at the gorgeous Loews Hotel on Miami Beach. It was so nice to see lots of familiar faces and reunite with so many people in the arts, hospitality and communications industry. I especially loved that the subject of ADA compliance and travelers with a disability was repeatedly discussed. The closing speaker revealed that travelers with a disability spent $200B traveling globally. That figure was provided by Expedia Group’s Lodging Accessibility Guide. It was encouraging to hear the speaker, who is legally blind, present tips to those in the room in the hospitality industry, on how to properly engage and help disabled travelers.

Tonight, I was supposed to attend an opening reception for the exhibition “In the Company of Women: At Large” at LnS Gallery in Coconut Grove. It features the works of 17 Miami-based female artists and I can’t wait to see it, hopefully later this week. Click here to read about it.

I also encourage you to check out the Artburst Miami website and read about all that’s going on in Miami’s cultural arts world. There are some phenomenal articles that were posted this week, I know you’ll enjoy reading them. I’m very proud to be a part of the Artburst team so I hope you’ll click on the link above to go straight to the site and get to reading!

I’ll close out this week saying congratulations to my daughter for becoming a licensed driver and to me and my husband Vance for making it through a challenging work week. So glad it’s Friday and the weekend is here!

Enjoy, be well and peace out.
