There’s been a lot of talk lately about Chat GPT and AI and students and professionals using the service to generate copy. Well I can assure you, this blog is being written by me… a human!
Alright here goes…
Friday night Vance and I enjoyed a night at the theater watching a group of superb actors in the play “Proof” at Actors’ Playhouse. I provided the review to the play in last week’s blog. I highly recommend seeing it, it ends this Sunday.
Sunday night, after a catering gig I did for Karen Peterson and Dancers, we piled into the car and headed out of town for the weekend. We visited Fort Myers and although some of the devastation from Hurricane Ian was still evident, we had a great time. The hotel had a nice pool which was so refreshing and had a lovely waterfall. We also walked on the Venice Beach pier and on the beach and dined at a few nice restaurants like the waterfront Nauti Parrot Tiki Hut where the fish tacos were delicious. It was a nice relaxing weekend.
Monday we hit traffic coming home so we immediately walking through the door, turned on the TV and watched in awe as the Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals to make it to the NBA finals!!!!!
Wednesday morning I took part in career day at St. Michael’s Catholic School where my sister Susy works. I’ve been going for several years now and this year I decided I’d bring my typewriter purse as a prop (if you remember, I featured a pic of it here in the blog a few months back). I was impressed all the students knew what a typewriter was.
After that I had lunch at Shucker’s Waterfront Grill with Nick’s former Special Olympics coach Kim Ferreira. She’s an amazing special education teacher who is starting a new project called Pathways to Common Ground. Just another way she’s advocating for people with special needs.
I’m also thrilled to report that my nephew’s wife Patty and their son Mano took over food rescue duties from me on Wednesday morning at Trader Joe’s. I’m touched they were inspired to get involved after reading last week’s blog. Thanks to both of you!
Then yesterday, Kim came by the house and did a video interview with both Nick and I about the importance of inclusion. It’s part of her initiative for Pathways to Common Ground. It was a really special afternoon.
Then today, I attended a Creative Mornings session that took place at Moonlighter Fab Lab which is described as “a membership-based digital fabrication lab, creative collaboration and learning space, and an arts + design exhibition venue.” I loved the space and the featured speaker, Cuban-American Director Victoria Collado who is one half of the duo behind Abre Camino Collective. She was assistant director of John Leguizamo’s “Latin History for Morons” on Broadway and continues to produce amazing plays and productions with her ACC partner, playwright Vanessa Garcia. Her talk was personal, honest and interactive. It was a total blast.
Tonight I’m done packing for another weekend getaway, this time to Melbourne. We’re really loving these weekend trips as we contemplate the future and a possible move.
Until next Friday, have a great one. See you then and thanks for reading!
