Heat loss made me sad

That headline is why I’m writing this blog on Saturday instead of Friday. Last night’s Miami Heat loss was heartbreaking and I just wasn’t feeling it. Sitting here at the computer, needing to be productive.

But today’s a new day, and we play again on Monday, which I’ll be honest, is something I’m already thinking about.

Last weekend Vance and I and Nicholas got out of town once again, this time to explore Melbourne. We loved it. We stayed at Hotel Melby, a nice Hilton in Downtown Melbourne and enjoyed walking around exploring the sights.

Us at The Landing Rooftop Bar, that’s me enjoying a prosecco.

There are lots of cute galleries, a small local theater and even a performing arts center. Sebastian Intel State Park was a highlight, where we spent time on a nature walk and looking out on the water and the boats passing by. We had some great food too at Pub Americana where I ordered a tasty personal pizza and Vance had vegetarian dumplings and a nice wedge salad. We also enjoyed some time at The Landing Rooftop Bar at our hotel.

Tranquil beauty at Manatee Sanctuary Park in Cape Canaveral.

On our way back home, we stopped at a waterfront restaurant in Cocoa called Indian River Bar & Grill. Although the server wasn’t the best, the food was good (I had the calamari) and the view was unbeatable. And we stopped at the adorable Manatee Sanctuary Park in Cape Canaveral. It was a great weekend.

This week was pretty quiet, I had to do lots of interviews for articles I’m working on but other than that, I took a few nice long walks through the neighborhood and was like I said earlier, sad to see the Miami Heat lose twice at home :(

I’ll share with you my article on two amazing young men, high school seniors who won Silver Knight Awards. The future looks bright for the arts and its thanks to students like them. I was so proud when I finished this article, I hope you enjoy it. Click here to read it.

Coming up tonight, we’re going to dinner at our friend Mike Palma’s restaurant Mickey Burke’s on South Beach then tomorrow night we’re going to dinner with our friends Kevin and Michelle to Doce Provisions, a great little spot in Little Havana.

And finally, I want to congratulate my friend George Neary who was surprised this past week with the Legacy Award at the Greater Miami Festival and Events Association’s Conference. Congrats George, you deserve it!!!! Look forward to seeing you for our get together in a few weeks.

That’s all for this Saturday, I’ll see you in your inbox next Friday! (or Saturday, we’ll see how it goes LOL)
