These past two weeks I…

Cheered, applauded and breathed a sigh of relief, as did my husband Vance when he got a job with Princess Cruises as Director of Internal Communications. So happy for him.

Greeting Anne Marie after her performance as Christine in “Be More Chill” at the Arsht Center. So proud!

I also applauded and cheered loudly yesterday as I marveled at my very talented great niece Anne Marie who did a STELLAR job portraying Christine, the lead in the play “Be More Chill.” The wonderful Area Stage Company is putting on two versions of the show, one with an adult cast and the other with the young adult conservatory cast. Both are great and I’m just so happy Area Stage is now presenting at the Arsht Center’s Black Box space. Hooray for them!

The article I was working on about the historic Sistrunk Corridor in Fort Lauderdale was published in MIA Magazine. Here’s a link to the issue, my article is on Pg. 16. https://miamediagrp.com/magazines/mia-magazine-jazz-in-the-gardens-2022-issue-feb-2022-edition/. That was a fun journey, visiting the area and seeing its growth and hopeful return to its former glory.

I also had an article published in the Artburst Miami blog, one that’s on a subject very near and dear to my heart… inclusion. I wrote about the All Kinds Included initiative that’s part of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. The strides they’re making to continue fighting for the rights of people with special needs is commendable. Link for the article here.

This past Sunday Vance and I checked out the current exhibit by artist Onajide Shabaka at Emerson Dorsch Gallery then we checked out Exile Books which is just a few doors down, where I chatted with Philip Lique who manages Exile and also has an artist studio at the Bakehouse Art Complex. Hoping to go check out his art at his studio this coming week.

View from Perez Art Museum Miami

We continued our cultural fun at the Perez Art Museum Miami where we had lunch al fresco at their Verde at PAMM restaurant then enjoyed the art throughout the museum. The views there are so fantastic and inside I’m always stopped in my tracks when I walk by my favorite piece by artist Robert Rauschenberg on permanent display there.

The lovely, sparkling, majestic pool at Loews Miami Beach.

And the South Beach Wine and Food Festival is back this week in full force and I actually attended the EATZ kick-off event at the Loews Hotel on Miami Beach. It featured food from Chef Chris Valdes, the former Food Network Star contestant I’ve mentioned in this blog before. The chefs at the Loews also served up some tasty bites. It was a nice night out and those evening pool views are seriously something else!

And finally, my oldest son Michael turned 28 on Tuesday, Feb. 22nd! Happy birthday Michael!

Looking forward to telling you more about what’s going on with me next week. Until then, have a great one and thanks for reading!
