The work never ends…

Although I love doing the work on behalf of Be The Change South Florida, Buddy System MIA and Good Samaritan Meals, it’s also disheartening to know that the work we’re doing of filling community fridges is so needed. Think about that for a minute. Ponder that need…it’s not a good thing at all. The work is wonderful, the need isn’t.

This week, I filled fridges a couple of different times, once with meals I made at home and then with a food rescue haul from Farm Share that Lauren from Be The Change South FL went to pick up today.

The mangoes I dropped off were snapped up right away at the fridge in Little River.

Lauren and I loaded up my car with lots and lots of produce and a whole bunch of pretzel bags from Farm Share. It all got divided between two fridge locations, one in Little Haiti and the other in Little River. At each one, there were people grabbing food right away which brought me immense joy but also made me sad.

On a lighter note, I’m really looking forward to Monday when I will have the honor and privilege of interviewing a 98-year-old WWII veteran for a profile in Biscayne Times. I look forward to telling you about that in next week’s post.

Until next week…have a wonderful weekend, stay safe and thank you so much for reading. And I’d love to hear from you all. What are you reading? What are you watching? How are you feeling? I’d love to engage with you and hear what’s going on with you. Send me an e-mail!
