A week full of fun…
It was a week full of adventures, fun with friends and articles published.
The adventures started on Saturday with Kevin and Michelle who Vance and I met at the Coral Gables Arts Fest last Saturday where we well, looked at art. We had a genuinely good time catching up and enjoying the lovely weather and live music courtesy of the US Navy Band.
We also met up with Kevin and Michelle on Wednesday at Old Tom’s Vintage Sports Bar in Miami Springs for their trivia night. We did great, came in second place and won a $30 bar tab. The tab expires next Wednesday so we’ll definitely be back and vying for first place. We call ourselves the 305ers!
Yesterday, I decided to take a solo field trip to Everglades National Park and I had the most peaceful, relaxing day. I stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Florida City for some breakfast and then made my way to the Homestead entrance of the park. At the Ernest F. Coe entrance I walked several of the trails including the Royal Palm, Anhinga, Gumbo-Limbo, Pinelands and Pa-hay-okee Overlook. I saw gators, birds, fish, lots and lots of mangroves, lily pads and beauty as far as the eye could see. My pass expires in seven days which means I may be talking about the Everglades in next week’s blog too!
On the way home, I stopped at the Robert is Here fruit stand for one of their amazing fruit smoothies and some produce and jams to go.
Tonight, Vance and I had a nice date night, starting off at Emerson Dorsch Gallery in Little Haiti to see their latest exhibition. We then stopped in at Magic 13 Brewing to visit AJ, my niece’s boyfriend who works there and finished off with dinner at Hachidori Ramen Bar in Little River, a place I’d been wanting to try. The food was really good. I had the Japanese street corn and mushroom bao buns and he had the… ramen. All of it was delicious.
I had a few articles published in the Biscayne Times this week. Click here to view those and all my other articles for the publication.
Also this week, I received a mystery package in the mail, a lovely cactus plant that arrived with no card. Turns out it was a condolence gift from my brother Mario, who loved our dog Sam and knows how much we miss him.
And I want to finish off by encouraging you to visit the South Florida on the Cheap website. It’s a great place to look for events and happenings around town that won’t break the bank!
That’s all for now, I’ll be back with more next Friday. See you next week, have a great one.
