Broadway, bikers, dinners & the big game
OK, let’s break down that headline…
Broadway because yesterday I had the honor of interviewing Jacqueline Williams, a veteran Broadway actress who is playing a lead part in Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of the classic “To Kill A Mockingbird.” She plays the housekeeper Calpurnia. Our conversation was quite memorable and I’m really looking forward to writing an article on the production for Biscayne Times.
Bikers and their beautiful Harley Davidson motorcycles we saw lined up tonight at Billy’s Pub on the way home from our amazing dinner at our neighborhood restaurant Cafe Creme where I had a delicious linguini bolognese and Vance and I split a beef carpaccio appetizer. On Monday night, I had dinner at Luna Pasta e Dolci where I ordered a stellar empanada and burrata caprese with arugula and prosciutto. See the pictures and tell me you’re not dying to try these dishes.
Today I attended a picnic for a Camillus House client, 84-year-old Navy veteran Charles Scardino who was celebrating a birthday today. He, along with several other veterans are all part of the GDP Low Demand program for vets at Camillus House. I had some amazing conversations with many of them, including the birthday boy of course. It was research for an article I’m writing about the program. I’ll share the article once it’s up on their website.
As for the big game, the Super Bowl this Sunday, I’m hoping for an exciting game. I don’t even know who I prefer takes home the big trophy, just looking forward to all the hoopla.
I wanted to also share that I’m still really enjoying the biography “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” by Bono, lead singer of the band U2 which I mentioned in this blog a few weeks ago.
And lastly, I have to mention a very heartwarming incident I observed of a kind and caring gentleman that I saw escorting an elderly man across the crosswalk right in front of me. Seeing that truly made my day.
That’s all for this week. Make sure to consider checking out the restaurants I mentioned, you won’t be sorry. Until next Friday… be well, be safe and stay zen.
