This week was Wicked

That headline may seem a bit deceiving but it just means it was a wicked good week.

Nick running the bases at Marlins Fan Fest

That’s Jeff Conine in the center (white Miami shirt), one of my favorite Miami Marlins, being interviewed at Fan Fest.

We kicked off last weekend attending the Marlins Fan Fest. The boys of Summer don’t officially return until opening day on March 30th but the event sure was an impromptu decision that turned out to be a lot of fun! Nick ran the bases several times and we enjoyed listening to player interviews and admiring the ballpark diamond view close up.

Then on Sunday, like most sports fans, we parked it on the couch to watch an epic match up between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, congrats Chiefs on the win. And of course, the much hyped about Rihanna halftime show, which I enjoyed as well. By far my favorite Super Bowl ad was the Hot Chips commercial starring Aaron Paul (Jesse) and Bryan Cranston (Walter) of “Breaking Bad” fame.

Our trivia night foursome. We’re all smiles, displaying our 2nd place finish and $30 bar tab winnings.

Wednesday morning started out with some nightmarish traffic which was a huge source of frustration. Then again, when isn’t Miami traffic a nightmare (and a death wish really). The evening went much better as our foursome — myself, Vance and our friends Kevin and Michelle — once again kicked butt at Trivia Night. Another second place finish resulting in another $30 bar tab. We’ll be there again next Wednesday.

Monica and I in front of a replica of Frida Kahlo’s blue house in Mexico. It’s part of the Frida in the Garden exhibit at the Naples Botanical Garden.

Yesterday, I took the day off and spent it with my best friend Monica whose birthday is today. We took a day trip to Naples where we had a wonderful lunch at the Riverwalk waterfront restaurant at Tin City and then spent time at the Naples Botanical Garden. It was a lovely day.

Michelle and I excited to watch “Wicked” at the Adrienne Arsht Center. I’d seen the play many years ago so seeing it again was almost like seeing it for the first time.

Capped off yesterday with an evening at the Adrienne Arsht Center watching the fantabulous play “Wicked” with Michelle (yes, she had to see me two days in a row and she survived! LOL)

I’m also excited to report that I’m going to finally get to see Duran Duran in concert, a band I’ve long wanted to see live. Also happy to report that a miscommunication/mistake on my part ended up becoming a new writing gig for me. An article that was supposed to appear in Artburst Miami has now been published on Miami Artzine and I will now be a regular contributor on their site. Click here to read my article, it’s about a cool event happening this weekend in the Design District.

I’m also already looking forward to this weekend and a nice dinner at Vinya Table in Coral Gables with again, our friends Kevin and Michelle and Raquel and Darryl, mutual friends of ours who will be visiting from Orlando. I’ll let you know next week how that dinner was.

I hope all of you reading this had a good week and have a lovely weekend. Enjoy that extra Monday off if you’ve got it! If you live in Miami there’s lots going on like the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the Miami International Boat Show and Art Wynwood, so get out there and enjoy!
