Thanks New Tropic Miami for tix to Craft Spirits Fest

I get Craft Spirits Festival e-mails regularly since I wrote about them during my Rundown.com days I'm still on their distribution list. I'd always wanted to attend one of their events and finally I got the chance, thanks to my love of hard liquor shots.I was going about my workday and as always, my daily e-mail from The New Tropic Miami arrived in my inbox and this time they were giving away tickets to the Craft Spirits Festival event in Coconut Grove. The contest was simple, tell them what my favorite fall cocktail was and I simply tweeted them and said "my favorite fall cocktail (and winter, summer & spring) isn't a cocktail at all, it's a shot of Jack Daniel's year-round!" to which they replied "keeping it classic! Respect send us your email — you've won a ticket to Craft Spirits Fest!"Courtesy of Craft Spirits FestAnd with that I invited my drinking buddy and long-time friend Antoinette and we headed to Coconut Grove to imbide plenty on just about oh well...everything.The event was in the grandiose and elaborate three-story Cruz Building on Commodore Plaza and that meant three floors of rum, bourbon, whiskey, vodka, gin, tequila, you name it.It was truly dizzying how much was going on. We sampled new and old scotch blends, flavored rums, gins of every kind, an old fashioned, a martini and simply too much to recollect. And we collected plenty of key chains, coasters, drink stirrers and even cigars, yes cigars. My friend's husband was going to be quite happy with the puffers she brought home.Of course, you can't be handing out liquor all night and not feed people so Finka Table & Tap the sweethearts down South who get more great press (for good reason) were there doling out cocktails and samplings. Sampled the cocktail a type of mojito but unfortunately was too late for the bites. But I did have some great pasta from Le Fragole and tasty salmon bites from The Local Craft Food & Drink. We took a couple of obligatory selfies and basically worked our way through the place from top to bottom and side to side. I have The New Tropic to thank for this fun night and I hope to make it to another one of these events sometime and get my liquor fix.
