My third and final Miami Spice adventure of 2015
It was the last day of Miami Spice, Sept. 30, 2015 and as a last ditch effort to get one final Spice experience in I jumped at the chance, on a weeknight no less, to visit a place I'd been wanting to check out since their re-do.So, after finishing up at an event earlier than I'd expected, I skipped hopping on 95 to get home and instead opted for Biscayne Blvd. where Cena by Michy is located. I'd been to Michy's a really long time ago but was curious to check out the menu and decor. No matter what, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. After all, this is Michelle Bernstein, a chef I've loved since her days at The Strand on South Beach. The decor is quite different than before but honestly just as inviting. The space is still intimate with no overcrowding of tables. The bar area is very inviting as well and now situated at the front of the restaurant. On that night, the bartender was hard at work creating some nice concoctions.First off, the service was impeccable. The waiter was knowledgeable and had perfect timing as to when to check in with me, even though he had several other tables to wait on. It didn't take me long to decide what I was going to choose for my three courses.I started off with an appetizer of tender, lightly breaded grouper cheese served on a bed of creamy grits and topped with pickled okra. As an entree, I chose the huge rib chop which was served over a halaya mash and topped with their delicious corn mousseline. And for dessert, I couldn't go wrong with a delicate panacotta topped with rhubarb compote and ginger snaps.Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I was so glad to have experienced this wonderful restaurant where so much care goes into the food, the service and the atmosphere.
