It's a millenial thing

So my son has been through multiple jobs since he started working as a senior in high school and he's 21 now. Three years, that's just three years in the work force and he's been through at least five jobs (I'm trying to stop counting). The explanation is simple, millenials think that work is a democratic process and everything needs to be fair. Newsflash -- the rest of us have been working for intolerant bosses since we can remember. He constantly complains his bosses are unfair, berate him and don't take him seriously. Here's a look into my work history:In my first career job out of college I spent nearly eight years working for a boss that was completely intolerable and worked everyone to death. I did so much work for so little pay and am guilty of adding on to my workload myself by always asking for more opportunities to get my byline seen. I wanted to diversify my work and so ended up doing the work of like three people. All this without regular raises, minimal benefits and very long work hours. It's what us older folks call experience. My next few jobs required me to work lots of special events on weekends, running around with minimal comp days offered. That means if the event was on a Sunday, I was expected to be at work on Monday ready to start on the week's tasks. Then at my last job I came back early from my maternity leave to work on a special project, worked up to the day before I had my daughter and was constantly traveling. Yes, I got to see some amazing places but also missed out on plenty of my kids' school activities and performances. It's called sacrifice. I was at this job for seven years. Now I'm doing my own thing as a freelancer and although the flexibility is nice, I still have to deal with office politics, intolerance, clashing personalities and yes, weeknight and weekend events. I love what I do so the satisfaction is wonderful but no matter what job you do, compromise and tolerance is always a big part of it.You've got to work your way up the ladder and deal with the consequences along the way no matter what job or career. It's part of work life and always will be.
