Sis birthday, date night fun & dance

Last weekend was a fun-filled one.

Friday night, my husband Vance and I had an impromptu double date with our friends Kevin and Michelle. We met in Little Havana during the monthly Cultural Fridays event and attempted to have dinner at Cafe La Trova, Michelle Bernstein’s stellar spot on SW 8 St. but it was jam packed. We ended up at Mykonos Greek Restaurant and that was perfectly fine. As always, we had great conversation over a delicious meal and lots of red wine.

Manchego and serrano ham sandwich, side of chips and a frosty Estrella Damm draft at 100 Montaditos on a gorgeous afternoon in Midtown Miami.

Then on Saturday, Vance and I headed to Midtown where he went to get a massage in hopes of healing a sore neck and I went to have a delicious afternoon snack and draft beer at 100 Montaditos. And for dinner, we went to Flanigan’s, my son Nick’s choice. I again ordered their delicious fish dip, which I can’t get enough of lately.

My sister Mari blowing out her birthday candles with her friend Antonia looking on. That’s Antonia’s apartment, she was nice enough to host it.

The gorgeous setting sun over Biscayne Bay to cap off our sister’s birthday celebration.

Sunday was my oldest sister Mari’s birthday so my two other sisters and I went to her apartment and celebrated. We had some tasty snacks, mojito’s made by her friend Antonia and those most decadent chocolate cake ever. We enjoyed watching a lovely sunset over Biscayne Bay and it was truly a fun afternoon.

Then last night I attended the Forward Motion Dance Festival by Karen Peterson Dancers. They’re a modern dance group that’s been around for three decades and what I love about them is they feature dancers with disabilities, several of them are in wheelchairs. The way they incorporate their moves with the disabled dancers and the wheelchairs is so moving. It was a truly enjoyable performance. Then tomorrow, I’m actually catering a reception after a workshop they’re hosting.

I also have an article to share with you about the Roxy Theatre Group and their work in the arts community and at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center. Click here to read it.

That’s all for this week. I’ll share some of my catering gig photos next week as well as food pics from my lunch at Pisco y Nazca, a Peruvian restaurant in Doral where they’re debuting a new fall menu.
