Purim, poetry & sailing
Yes, this is dropping in your inbox a day late. It was a busy week and yesterday I spent so much time at the computer I just needed to take a break. However, I didn’t want to wait until next week because I have so much I want to tell you.
Like the awesome segment I watched on CBS Sunday Morning last week on the story of the Purim holiday and those amazing Hamentaschen cookies. I was lucky enough to snag one of those delectable cookies, this one filled with what tasted like a chocolate brownie (wow!) at Zak the Baker in Wynwood. I enjoyed every single bite until the end and was so sorry when I was done. Click here to watch the story from the morning show.
And the afternoon I spent at Legion Park, enjoying a little snack and strolling under the gorgeous tree canopy. I also found out they’re building new tennis courts. I go to the park often on Saturday mornings to shop at their Farmer’s Market but yesterday I decided to check out their facility and found that they have great free books for kids. I decided to grab one that’s all about animals and will be sending it to my great nephew Ramzi as a surprise. I think he’ll love receiving it in the mail!
Or the phenomenal interviews with P. Scott Cunningham the founder of the O, Miami Poetry Festival for an article I’m writing for Biscayne Times and the other one with a client from Camillus House who was brave enough to share her story with me. And today’s chat with the young Catherine, a 10-year-old who takes sailing lessons with Team Paradise at the US Sailing Center in Coconut Grove. Her excitement and enthusiasm about the program brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart. The view watching them launch and sail away wasn’t bad either (see picture above!)
I’ll soon be sharing links to my Biscayne Times article as well as my contributions to the Camillus House website blog.
Then to complete what’s been a great week so far, today the view at the beach and the seagulls flying overhead were both truly magical.
Thanks as always for reading and letting me drop in your inbox on a weekly basis. It truly means a lot.
Stay safe, be well and all the best always!
