Long week so keepin’ it short and sweet

It’s taking everything I’ve got to sit here and type this tonight but I want to tell you about some fun stuff I did this week and also share my latest articles.

I’m tired because my husband left on a business trip very early Tuesday morning and won’t be back for 13 days. Luckily, it was Spring Break so my daughter was home from school. But still, car issues with both cars and getting that taken care of took a toll. Well enough of that. Here’s what I wanted to share.

I was driving around Little River this past week and happened to stumble upon Dale Zine’s new digs. The place is full of color, really cool zines, books, art and cool merchandise. I got to meet owners Lily and Steve and the adorable dog Billy. It was fun chatting with them and I’m looking forward to returning and also attending future events there. Here’s a link to their Facebok page, check it out and do stop in if you get the chance.

I also had a blast listening to Carlos Frias, Miami Herald food editor and Amy Reyes, Miami.com editor, during their “La Ventanita” podcast where they interviewed Zak Stern of Zak the Baker fame about growing up in Miami, running Zak the Baker in Wynwood and oh that tiny little thing, being a James Beard Award finalist! Click the link above to watch the podcast and pay close attention to the employee at the bakery that makes several appearances behind Zak, he’s sweeping the floor and dressed in a gorilla suit! I could not stop laughing. By the way, Zak and his crew bake THE most amazing bagels, cookies, croissants, breads and more! You can’t miss their building in Wynwood, it’s painted in pastel colors.

Some other happenings this week…

Immensely enjoying the garbanzo salad from The Plantisserie, one of my favorite spots in the city. Everything here is vegan and absolutely delicious.

Listening to and watching Miami Herald photographer and one of the coolest cats on the planet Carl Juste and Zoo Miami Communications Director, the fiercely energetic Ron Magill during FIU’s Cafecito Chat Haiti/Havana and their Miami connection. Here’s a link to the Facebook video. I wish I’d and gone and watched them in person but got lazy and watched the livestream instead. It was still great.

And finally, my first time contributions to the Camillus House website, click here to read about Team Paradise and also to Fisher Island Club Magazine, click here to flip through the magazine. Find my articles on Pgs. 32 & 33, 36 & 37 and 54.

And that’ll do it! Thanks as always for reading. Have a wonderful weekend and see you right back in your inbox next week.

Peace to Ukraine, always praying for you.
