NBA playoffs, windows (finally) & more!
After visiting the permit office several times and getting our window permit approved we FINALLY got our impact windows. Neptune Windows did an amazing job.
You can see them in the picture above. That’s my daughter Elizabeth and her boyfriend David all decked out for the prom!
I spent most of this week glued to the TV watching the Miami Heat go from obliterating the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals to seeing them get crushed by those same Celtics and at home no less, on Thursday. Let’s see what Game 3 on Saturday has in store.
It’s been a costly week for our cars too. My husband Vance needed a new alternator and I idiotically lopped off my passenger side mirror on a garbage can sticking out on a very narrow street. That means I got to see our mechanic Francis twice this week.
I always have great conversations with Francis and this time was no different. We had a wonderful talk about the importance of volunteering and giving back. I always say my favorite days of the week are when I do food rescue at Trader Joe’s in Coral Gables on Wednesday, food rescue at Panera and Chipotle every other Monday and when I cook for the feeding ministry on Thursdays at St. James Baptist Church in Coconut Grove.
Finally, I can’t write a blog post without sharing what I got published this week. This week it was for the Artburst Miami blog about the Fountainhead Arts’ Artist Open Studios, a Miami-Dade countywide event to visit artist studios everywhere from down South to as far north as North Miami. Click here to read the post.
I’m looking forward to sharing my next post for the Artburst blog which will be on local artist and social justice activist Vanta Black. Also can’t wait to share my article for the Camillus House blog about last week’s van ride with Lazarus Project team. Those two are coming soon.
Today I had a wonderful and very humid, muggy walk but with a view like the one in the picture above, it was worth it! I also stopped by the beach for a bit on Monday after taking food to my Adopt A Family, family. What a gorgeous view, it never gets old.
Yesterday Vance I celebrated our 32nd Wedding Anniversary and tonight we’re having dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Cafe Avanti.
That’s all for this week. Until next Friday stay dry, stay safe, stay healthy and be thankful.
