Miami Heat advance!

That Miami Heat basketball game on Wednesday was one for the ages and allowed them to advance to the second round of the NBA Playoffs! And the one prior to that saw Jimmy Butler (“Buckets”) score 56 points!!! Yes, I’m a Miami Heat fan, always have been, since day one. Let’s Go Heat!!! Second round starts on Sunday against the dreaded NY Knicks.

OK, now on to what’s been going on since last Friday.

Us with Kerri and Paul in Tarpon Springs

Last weekend was fun, relaxing and much needed. We took a road trip to Tarpon Springs to visit my sister-in-law Kerri and her husband Paul. We had a wonderful time exploring this adorable town. I especially loved the adorable independent bookstore The Gilded Page where I chatted with the lovely owner and picked up an adorable typewriter shaped purse!

I also wanted to take the opportunity to make a few suggestions…

I recommend watching the MSNBC short series “John Leguizamo Does America,” particularly the second episode which is set in Miami. The first one was set in NYC and that one was cool too. Watching the one in the Big Apple I discovered a community theater I’d never heard of. Definitely want to catch a performance there next time I’m in NY. Check out the show, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Kaitlyn dancing her way to gold!

My great nieces Hailey & Kaitlyn had shows at school this past week. Hailey performed in her school’s talent show, shredding on guitar. Her sister Kaitlyn did too and she also performed with her dance school where she got a high gold medal for her solo and first place gold for her duets.

And lastly, I had a couple of articles published since the last blog. My Artburst Miami article made the cover of the Miami Herald Neighbors section and my profile on the wonderful Ira Hall was published in Legacy Miami.

If you live in Miami, I also encourage you to check out the Westchester Cultural Arts Center where there’s currently an interesting play by a homegrown playwright. Click here to read about “Las Paredes Oyen” (“The Walls Have Ears.”) And if you’d like, click here to read the review we did on the Artburst Miami website.

Until next week, have a great weekend!
