Interviews, a jog and more work
I’m like a yo-yo, one minute saying I want to retire and then all of a sudden, deciding to take on more work. I know, annoying, but…
This week was good, although I found myself very busy because I jumped right back in to working for Miami on the Cheap, now South Florida/Miami on the Cheap but it felt good. I also had plenty of work to do for Arely PR. I managed the busyness and being productive kept me invigorated.
I also had the pleasure of interviewing so many interesting people. One was a client for Camillus House and his story was truly inspiring. I’ve written that article and will share when it’s published.
The other people I interviewed were for an article I’m writing about The Betsy Hotel’s “Escribe Aqui” program. I encourage you to visit the hotel’s website and see all the incredible arts programming they present. Deborah Briggs and Jonathan Plutzik are the siblings behind the successful boutique hotel and their late father was an award-winning poet whose desk graces the hotel’s Writer’s Room for use by the writers in residence there. Their story is truly fascinating. I will share the article once it’s published.
As always, I have to share with you another article I had published in Biscayne Times, this one about two young guys, longtime friends and the bike shop they own together. It was such a touching article about their close relationship with the previous owner and how owning the shop was a lifelong dream for the two. Here’s a link to it.
Most important news of all, on Saturday night, I had the pleasure of watching my two great nieces Hailey and Kaitlyn perform at the Miami Girls Rock Camp showcase. They played guitar and performed original songs with their respective bands. I was so proud and the inclusive nature of the camp was really wonderful. Check out the Miami Girls Rock Camp website to learn more. It was nice too hanging out with my sisters and my nephew Tony who was still in town from Seattle, watching the two girls on stage.
Then just this morning, I made the decision to start jogging again. It was so hard, I only went for about a mile or so and it was humid but I made it and felt so good afterwards.
This week I also finished reading a rather intriguing and somewhat disturbing book “Future Skinny” by Peter Rosch. The subject matter was pretty out there but the plot twists made it a page turner. Now I’ve started reading “The Accursed” by Joyce Carol Oates, a historic (but fictional) gothic novel set at the turn of the twentieth century. I’ll give you my feedback as I dive deeper into it in the coming weeks.
That’s all for this week. Soon I hope to muster up the courage to share some more of my poetry with you but until then, be well, stay safe and see you in your inbox next Friday!
Thanks as always for reading.
