Dinners, crazy traffic, tough edits & the PR grind
This week began with a wonderful Monday night out to experience Noche de Arte at the InterContinental Miami in Downtown. It’s a weekly live art event run by my friend and work colleague Jean. She and her husband Ignacio have a studio Warehouse 4726 in the Bird Road Arts District and it was through their studio they were invited to run this event where they host one artist a month painting live every Monday in the hotel’s lobby. Ignacio is the featured artist in August. Click here to read about it. I’m going to be writing an article about it for Artburst Miami.
I’m also back in the PR grind and this week was particularly tough with a ton of work for Arely PR. I got everything done and Arely Ruiz the owner of the firm took me out to lunch and actually gave me a bonus for going above and beyond. It was really nice.
Yesterday was my sister Susy’s birthday and so my other sisters Ana and Mari and I took her out to dinner. She chose Havana Harry’s in Coral Gables and we had a really nice time. Food was good, the conversation was fun and it was nice to celebrate together.
And tonight, I had a wonderful meal at Strada in Coconut Grove with my lifelong friend Gema and her family who are in town on vacation. I’ve known Gema since college. She and her husband Shane and their two boys live in Virginia. It was really nice catching up with them and I highly recommend the restaurant, they serve great Italian food. Again, great meal and great conversation.
Finally I must comment on the crazier than normal traffic and accidents in Miami lately. In just the past two or three weeks several highways have been completely shut down due to accidents and today alone I saw at least three, maybe four accidents. It’s seriously insane.
This work week was tough, I’ve got lots of edits to make on an article I wrote. I got started on them but my head was spinning so I’m going to step away and finish on Monday (not looking forward to that).
Oh and one last thing I forgot to mention. Today I took a tour of the lovely Gateway Center, a community center in Sunny Isles Beach which I’m writing about for Biscayne Times. The floor to ceiling windows let in plenty of light and the modern aesthetic is very inviting. State-of-the-art features include a sleek kitchen, a cool seating area, workout rooms with lovely hard wood floors plus lots of other great amenities. Click here to take the virtual tour.
That’s all for this week, I’ll be back in your inbox next Friday. Until then, have a great one and thanks for reading.
