Since last Friday…
I’ve seen a lot, experienced plenty and therefore, have lots to share. Actually, at the beginning of the week, I start making a list as soon as things strike me that would be fun to mention here.
That list this week starts with…
The ridiculous amount of ugly block-style houses that are taking over so many neighborhoods. I’m just not a big fan and they seem to be everywhere. It makes me sad and frustrated that instead of preserving historic homes, we’re tearing them down.
Although the block houses were the down side of my neighborhood walks, one cute observation was a guy biking around with two adorable little dogs in his bike’s basket. Cuteness overload. I also saw several Ibis while resting on one of the pretty benches during one of my long walks through Biscayne Park.
I had some really great times on Miami Beach this past week too. First at Surfside, my usual hangout, where I encountered some very nice families with a bunch of cute kids having a grand ole time. They approached me as they were leaving, we had some nice conversation and they even offered me a beer from their cooler (which I gladly accepted of course!).
Then on Sunday I spent some time at South Pointe Park looking out on the water, walking the boardwalk toward the pier and just taking in the gorgeous view. Mental note…need to do that again soon.
There’s lots of family news this week too. My niece Karli turned 40 on Aug. 15 and had a weekend celebration in her hometown of Nashville with her Mom, aunt, sister-in-law and friends. Nashville will never be the same. They looked like they had a blast. And lots of my great nieces and nephews started school this week including my niece Jeanna’s (Karli’s sister) cuties Troy and Nora who she’s homeschooling. My great nephews, brothers Mazen and Ramzi went back to school too and Mazen was King for a Day at a party he attended (HIS choice, that kid is too much, see pic above). And Belle and Chase, my nephew Chris’s kids also went back to school (Belle, starting ninth grade is also pictured above). That should do it for the family news. Oh no that’s not all, my niece Tiffany, a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, became certified in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion making her the airline’s rep for the NYC base. Congrats!
And finally, I have to share my articles since the last time my blog hit your inbox. Click here to read my article about the Writer’s Room Residency Program at The Betsy Hotel and click here to read my profile on Construction Executive Kurt Dyer. My article is on page 24. I strongly encourage you to visit The Betsy Hotel on 14th and Ocean Dr. on Miami Beach, it’s a wonderful place.
And lastly, I’d love to hear from you. Where you’re dining out, what movies you’ve seen or shows you’re watching, what you’re reading and where you like to hang out on the weekends. Remember too we’re in the middle of the two-month long Miami Spice program. Click here to visit the site and see the restaurant deals they’ve got throughout Miami-Dade.
Until next week, be well and have a good one!
