Good and weird week

I felt a bit off this week, not gonna lie. Motivation was pretty low, I was grappling with some stuff which didn’t help me get motivated but luckily that got resolved and all is well.

Last weekend was really, really great and it started with a Saturday date night with Vance to Amarone in North Miami Beach, an Italian restaurant I’d been wanting to try for a loooooonnnggg time. It was so worth it! I had the burrata alla pomodoro. I chose tagliatelle as the pasta which was prepared with burrata and tomato sauce and topped with pine nuts and balsamic glaze. Vance ordered the meatball appetizer, four luscious meatballs and he paired that with the burrata and prosciutto salad. My leftover pasta was my lunch on Monday and Tuesday and he had the leftover meatballs on Sunday afternoon for lunch.

Italian mojito from Mad Radio Miami

After that we went to Mad Radio Miami, a cool bar right along Little River on Biscayne Blvd. There, I had a fantastic Italian mojito with rum and prosecco, it was very refreshing. Also, the vibe there is very European cool.

On Sunday, I did one of the coolest things. I got to see the classic, futuristic black & white silent film “Metropolis” on the big screen at Coral Gables Art Cinema. I hadn’t seen it on the big screen since back in the 90s when I saw it at the Gusman Center in Downtown where it was presented with a full orchestra. I loved seeing it again! The Gables art cinema has some really interesting and unique programming which is right up my alley.

And that is pretty much it for the week. Tomorrow, I’m heading way down south to the Pinecrest Library to join my former co-worker Maria Cotta-Sanchez at her South Florida Writers Association meet up and afterwards we’re grabbing lunch somewhere. I’ll tell you how that went and where we went for lunch in next week’s blog.

After that I’m going to Locust Projects to check out a new initiative called Miami Artists Census. I read an article about it on the WLRN website (click here to read it) and they’re hosting their first meet up at Locust from 3-5 p.m. Hoping I can find a unique angle about it and write my own article for either Artburst Miami or Biscayne Times.

Today I got asked if I’d be interested in writing for a newly launched lifestyle publication/ I’m speaking to the Publisher on Monday, wish me luck.

And what I’m really looking forward to is all of us going and visiting Elizabeth in Orlando in a couple of weeks and I know she’s excited about it too.

That’s all for this week, see ya again right here in your inbox next Friday.

View at Arch Creek East

I took a couple of great bike rides this week and today treated myself to some time in nature (see the photo above at Arch Creek East.)

And I want to encourage you to visit the South Florida on the Cheap website, which is a great resource for all kinds of deals and discounts around Miami, Broward and Palm Beach. Here’s something I put together today, a little roundup of fun October events. Click here to read it. And click here to read my profile on the new co-directors of the O, Miami Festival, an article I’m very proud of that was published in Biscayne Times.
