Anniversary and more

Today is my 33rd Wedding Anniversary. On this day in 1990 I still remember my husband and I calling each other as we were getting ready for the big day. We were both watching the classic Looney Tunes with Bugs Bunny and the two hillbillies. Ahhh… the memories.

Now let’s see what’s been going on since last Friday.

Saturday was a crazy day of driving all over Miami. I had to drop off and pick up my son Nicholas out in Westchester for a birthday party so I took advantage and went to visit Jean & Iggy Font at their CollaboARTive studio in the Bird Road Arts District. Loved admiring the work of all the artists during the annual one day Artists Open when hundreds of art studios and galleries are open all over Miami.

Prosecco at Neverland Coffee Bar

A selection of bon bons and macarons in a dainty pink box from Lolita Dessert Club.

Mother’s Day on Sunday was nice and relaxing. Went for a late afternoon snack with Vance to Neverland Coffee Bar and Lolita Dessert Club. Then that night he made delicious lamb sliders and Elizabeth baked me a chocolate cheesecake.

Yesterday was a nice full day. It started off at Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center where Nicholas attends the Adult Day Training Program and Get Fit. A group of the moms took a field trip to visit a group home in Miami Lakes. It was a very nice experience and later, back at the Center, we all enjoyed lunch from Panera.

A piece from Jason Seife’s exhibition “Coming to Fruition” at PAMM.

Installation “Love is Calling” by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama at PAMM.

Leandro Erlich’s illusory Swimming Pool installation that’s part of “Liminal” at PAMM.

At night, I decided it was time to finally go to one of the opening receptions at the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) in Downtown. We are members and I never attend the openings. It was a nice solo evening where I enjoyed the gorgeous views of the water and the lovely new art exhibition by Miami artist Jason Seife entitled “Coming to Fruition.” It’s his first solo exhibition in the U.S. and it’s quite impressive. I also walked through several of the other exhibits like Leandro Erlich’s “Liminal” that features plenty of fun optical illusion style art and “Love is Calling” by 94-year-old Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. The latter is by far one of the most colorful and immersive exhibitions I’ve ever seen. Click on the links above and read about all these great shows as well as their Permanent Collection which is equally impressive.

Shrimp ceviche from Sabor a Peru

After the show, I stopped in for some delicious shrimp ceviche and papa a la huancaina at the Peruvian restaurant Sabor a Peru on Biscayne Blvd. I usually take Biscayne Blvd. all the way home after attending events downtown. If you’re ever in the area stop in there, you won’t be disappointed.

Tonight, Vance and I are having an anniversary dinner at Cafe Avanti in mid beach off Arthur Godfrey Rd. (41 St.). It’s a great authentic, no frills, no nonsense, classic Italian restaurant. I’ll let you know what we had tonight right here in the blog next week. I included a link so you can check out the menu if you so wish!

VPK grad Mazen in bow tie and spiky punk rock hair. Congrats!!!

And I have to mention my great nephew Mazen who graduated from VPK today and was looking quite handsome in his mohawk and bow tie.

On Sunday we’ll be going to the Hard Rock Cafe at Bayside to celebrate my great niece Hailey’s (the guitar shredder I’ve featured in this blog many times in the past) 14th birthday.

Oh, and our reservations tonight are for 7 p.m. to ensure we’ll make it home in time to watch the Heat Game!!!! LET’S GO HEEEAAATTTT!!!!!! 🔥🏀

Until next week… ❤️💕(❁´◡`❁)^_^
