A day late
But I have a good excuse, too many events and get togethers.
It all started on Saturday when my best friend Monica treated me to lunch for my birthday which was on Sunday, Dec. 11. We went to the Michelin star restaurant Le Jardinier in the Design District. It’s a gorgeous restaurant and the meal was definitely Michelin star worthy. Unforgettable. If you go, I highly recommend trying the sea bass, chef’s kiss!
The next day on my actual birthday, I went to lunch at Shucker’s with my husband Vance and daughter Elizabeth. The waterfront restaurant has my favorite tuna tartare appetizer and I also ordered the fish dip which is equally as good. The weather was amazing that day and the view is always phenomenal.
Then for my birthday night, after a barbecue and cake with the family, we drove down the beautiful Enchanted Place on NE 137 St. and 16 Ave. in North Miami to see the holiday light display. The canopy of trees and front yards are all done up to the max, with the help of FPL. It’s a holiday tradition and I love it. Overall, it was a fantastic birthday weekend.
Wednesday night was the holiday pajama party with my friends Michelle and Yvonne (Ita) and my nephew’s wife Teri. We all brought cookies, an appetizer and made a cocktail. It was a fun night of girl talk, chatting, eating, drinking and best of all, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. Here’s hoping that becomes an annual tradition.
Thursday night, I attended the Miami-Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s Holigay Party. My good friend George Neary invited me and it was held in the beautiful historic building on Washington Ave. on Miami Beach where the Chamber’s offices are located. Fun times and lots and lots of toys collected for kids.
Friday night I saw City Theatre’s production of “What the Constitution Means to Me” an amazing play written by Heidi Schreck and beautifully acted in our local production by Elizabeth Price. I wrote about this production for Biscayne Times and was so happy to see it! Click here for a link to my article.
After the play I went to check out the new Mediterranean/Israeli restaurant Branja at Upper Buena Vista where the head chef Jimmy Chillo brought out a bunch of delicious food for me to try. I’m writing about them and nine other restaurants for an article in Edible South FL Magazine. Can’t wait to see it in print, I’ve discovered so many great new Mediterranean restaurants around Miami and in Broward thanks to this assignment.
And I just got back from the Food Rescue US South FL holiday get together at Smorgasburg in Wynwood. What a wonderful time hanging out with my fellow food rescuers. Ate some yummy tacos and had a frosty cold beer. I’d never to the outdoor food hall and it was pretty cool. Loved getting to know everyone.
That’s all for this week, see you again next Friday. Thanks for reading!
