Winemaker's Table Dinner at Estiatorio Milos is fabulous

That headline says it all and at $79 for six courses with wine pairings, the monthly Winemaker's Table Dinner series is a bargain, a very elegant and delectable bargain. It's nice too that the Estiatorio Milos is located in the South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach which is a bit quieter.

This large restaurant spares nothing when providing an inviting ambiance for diners. Once you're done with the six courses, you won't want to leave.

The January dinner (they're held once a month on Monday night) started off with a tasting of raw fish that included a selection of fresh sashimi and tartare. All courses were paired with choices from the Parparoussis Winery, this one with the Sideritis Achaia 2017. This course was fresh and light and went perfectly with the delicate wine.

Next came the grilled appetizers, a beautiful plate of grilled octopus with vegetables served family style. The tender pieces of octopus were paired with an Assyrtiko, Achaia 2016 wine.

The fourth course was a Greek salad with the juiciest, ripest, most colorful tomatoes, tossed ever so lightly with cucumbers, green peppers, slivered red onions, hearty chunks of salty feta cheese and a light vinaigrette. Assyrtiko/Athiri, Dons de Dionsos, Cava, Achaia 2014 was the pairing here.

A delicate grilled lavraki (a European bass) topped with ladolemono and capers accompanied by broccoli was another nice, light course, paired with Agiorgitiko, Nemea Reserve, Nemea 2012.

Next came the meat, melt in your mouth tender and expertly grilled lamb chops (seriously, no knife needed) served with Greek fried potatoes and paired with Mavrodaphne, Taos, Acchaia 2010.

Finally, the dessert sampling featured a delectable and light serving of baklava, fresh fruit and thick greek yogurt with nuts and a honey drizzle. The sweet Moscato, Rio, Patras 2013 dessert wine was as delicious as the glass it was served in was beautiful.

The courses for these dinners vary by month so it's always a pleasant surprise what they'll come up with and it will most definitely be delicious.
