This week’s highlights

A glass of wine during our romantic anniversary dinner at Cafe Avanti.

One of the definite highlights this week was my 34th wedding anniversary on Sunday, May 19. Vance and I spent a couple of hours hanging out at the beach and then went to Cafe Avanti for dinner. You know that’s one of our favorite places and the beautiful and bountiful charcuterie board we shared to start and the spaghetti and meatballs he ordered and ricotta and spinach ravioli I ordered were fabulous too.

Tuesday was a fun night at Naked Angels where I was cast in a play reading. I got to play the green PowerPuff girl and the dialogue was fun and engaging. It allowed me to use my other creative side, the one that allows me to be on stage and become someone else! It’s always a joy to be in character.

Wednesday was spent networking with lots of creative folks at the Arts & Business Council’s annual Media workshop which was held at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in Building 2. Since it was over right at noon, I walked directly across the street to grab lunch at the MDC’s Culinary Institute student run Cafe where I enjoyed a tasty club sandwich. I loved being back on my old stomping grounds and watching the students learning how to run a business from front of house to everything that’s prepared in the kitchen. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. I got the sandwich, chips and a soda for $10.67! If you’re in Downtown Miami make sure to check them out.

My homemade blueberry muffins were my contribution to the Support Group potluck.

Then yesterday morning was wonderful as I spent it with the ladies in the Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center support group. We had a tasty potluck and spent time sharing stories about our lives as parents to people with intellectual disabilities. We laughed, vented and most of all… supported each other. That’s what it’s all about.

Vance in his hard hat

And here’s a parting shot of Vance in a hard hat. He just got back from an overnight trip to Baltimore where Princess Cruises hosted a food truck that provided lunch for the crew that’s clearing the channel where the bridge collapsed.

And that’s it! Now I’m off to pack for our weekend getaway. Can’t wait to hit the road… ROAD TRIP!

Have a wonderful long weekend and let’s continue to hope for a bright future with more love and compassion in the world.

Until next week…
