The nest is full this weekend

The nest is full indeed with Michael, my oldest son, home for the weekend to celebrate his sister Elizabeth’s going away party that we’re hosting tomorrow.

Elizabeth will be moving to Orlando to finish up her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida. It’s gonna be a busy weekend and coming week. She moves in next Friday!

So this week was actually pretty quiet. Nick and I went to see Despicable Me 4 on Saturday and that was really fun and that night I tried to watch my great niece Kaitlyn perform at her end of week show with Miami Girls Rock Camp but it started thundering bad and rain was coming so I headed home but not before stopping to pick up dinner at Dogma Grill.

Monday and Tuesday was non-stop just watching the Summer Olympics in Paris and getting work done.

I did grab lunch at Pita Plus in Aventura while running errands. I ordered their grape leaves and falafel with a piece of their soft, warm, homemade pita bread. The pita was so good, I took home a four pack of it that they sell for $4.

It was just Vance, Nick and myself at trivia on Wednesday and honestly, we didn’t do great but it was still fun. I treated myself to a delicious mushroom/swiss burger at Old Tom’s Cafe.

Nick didn’t waste anytime in wrestling with Michael, boys will be boys!

Yesterday, Michael arrived and luckily he wasn’t too impacted by Hurricane Debby. He only arrived an hour late. We picked him up at MIA and went straight to get lunch at The Citadel Food Hall where Vance, Elizabeth, Michael and I shared lots of goodies from several of the vendors there.

We had… delicate and crispy fried shrimp from The Shores Fish Market, bruschetta from Borti, burritos and elote from Guerito and Vietnamese pho and a crispy chicken bao from Pho Sho by Phuc Yea. It was a delectable feast. We all shared and that was the best part, we all got to try a little bit of everything.

Last night, Elizabeth and Michael got in the kitchen and made a seafood boil with crab, shrimp, potatoes and corn in an Old Bay seasoned stock with lots of lemon in the stock and for squeezing on the shellfish. Another feast!!

That’s about it really. Nothing else to report. I plan to spend a quiet weekend at home to watch more Olympics all the way through the closing ceremonies on Sunday night.

And I leave you with a few parting shots of some lovely trees I walked past during my very hot, sweaty and humid walk this morning.
