Since two weeks ago…

Yes, I slacked last Friday but it was because I was on a little two day cruise that departed on Friday and returned early on Sunday so, that’s my excuse for not hitting your inbox and it was a pretty good one.

Here’s a quick rundown of the last two weeks…

Seafood skewer from the Rooftop Garden on Celebrity Cruise Line’s Celebrity Ascent.

The cruise we took (Vance and I) was on Celebrity Cruise’s new Celebrity Ascent, a gorgeous ship where we enjoyed great food at their restaurants Rooftop Garden and Fine Cut Steakhouse. I loved the seafood skewers with scallops, shrimp and salmon at Rooftop, a dish as colorful as it was delicious and the filet mignon, crab cakes and asparagus at Fine Cut were stellar.

I absolutely loved this comfortable, velvety chair in a cozy nook on Celebrity Ascent. The seating area is between a couple of their restaurants.

These beautiful dangling crystals that flow from one deck to another are the focal point of that seating area where I’m pictured above.

The ship is absolutely gorgeous and has so many beautiful areas to relax and decompress but also dance and indulge in cocktails. We also saw their great show “Bridges” which had great music, fantastic dancing and acrobatics. It’s visually stunning. Take a look at the photos and you’ll see.

We saw a couple of movies too that I recommend seeing. “Killers of the Flower Moon,” the latest film by director Martin Scorcese starring Robert DeNiro and Leonardo Di Caprio and “American Fiction,” starring Jeffrey Wright and Tracee Ellis Ross. Both excellent films in my opinion. A bit tough to watch but read the synopsis online and decide for yourself.

Arts & Business Council of Miami team at El Cristo for our holiday lunch.

This week was all about holiday parties for me. I had the one with the Arts & Business Council of Miami team at El Cristo Restaurant in Little Havana where i ordered the ropa vieja and it was fantastic! Brought some home and both Elizabeth and Vance enjoyed it. And the other holiday get together was with the volunteers from Food Rescue US. That one was at Maty’s Miami in Midtown. It was a collaboration with Shake Shack so we had juicy shake shack burgers, along with huancaina cheese fries and mini shakes.

A sculpture I encountered and fell in love with while walking through Untitled Art Fair on 12th St. and Ocean Dr. on Miami Beach.

And of course, this was Miami Art Week so… I went to the Untitled Art Fair to visit Emerson Dorsch Gallery at Booth A23. Go visit them if you can, they’ll be there through Sunday, as will Art Basel at the Miami Beach Convention Center where I was yesterday with my friend Monica. We also went to Design Miami which is across the street from the Convention Center. All of it ends on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Masks by Isabella Mellado on display at YoungArts Gallery.

Yesterday morning I attended one of my favorite events during Miami Art Week, the YoungArts Breakfast where I listened to a great talk by artist Isabella Mellado whose exhibition “Desde El Charco” is currently on display at the YoungArts gallery located at 2100 Biscayne Blvd. The show ends tomorrow if you can get over there and see it it’s certainly worth it. And if you don’t make it to that one certainly go to another exhibit there. Visit the link above to see what’s coming up.

Tomorrow I’m going to the Seven Seas Motel at 5940 Biscayne Blvd. where I’m going to see my artist friend Ana Martinez who will be displaying her work in Room 215. It’s called “Palo Santo” and part of the Feria Clandestina. I went to the Miami Art Week event at this hotel a few years ago and loved how they display all types of quirky art and then some in each of the different rooms, it’s really fun.

Michelle and I taking our obligatory selfie getting ready to watch “Pretty Woman” at the Arsht Center.

Oh and on Tuesday night, I went to see “Pretty Woman” the play at the Arsht Center with my friend Michelle, it was cute but I’m really looking forward to seeing Peter Pan during next year’s Broadway in Miami series. And yes, Pretty Woman is based on the famous movie starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere but the play has a few minor updates.

L-R John Padgett, Princess Cruise Lines President, Chef Rudi Sodamin, Romero Britto and event guest in front of the new Love by Britto logo.

Today, I attended Princess Cruise Line’s announcement of their new collaboration with Romero Britto called Love by Britto, a new restaurant concept with logo by Britto himself and food by Chef Rudy Sodamin who is a cruise culinary fixture. The event was held at Britto Palace, his warehouse and exhibition space in Little River. Can’t wait to see what that menu looks like, it’s sure to be an artistic masterpiece!

That’s it, if I forgot anything I’ll tell you about it next week. Now I’m off to the now annual Christmas cookies, cocktails and apps PJ’s get together with Michelle, Ita and Teri.

Promise I’ll be back next week!
