My eye-opening kava water discovery
Sometimes I get some quirky assignments from the magazine and my recent experience at the Mystic Kava Water Bar most certainly falls into this category.I arrived with an open mind, with sort of an idea what it would be like and I was spot on. I embraced it though, taking it all in, from the atmosphere to the entire concept of the place.Outside are several plants huddled together on the sidewalk with chairs mingled within and a beautifully decorated door that gives a hint to what awaits inside. I settled on a bar stool and proceeded to interview the owner who honestly, kept me intrigued with the story of how he came to own this place after being introduced to kava water by a friend and to yoga by his sister. That's what captivated me and it's what always does. To hear these life-changing stories of people improving their lives. While most people would see this as hokey or New Age crap, I actually listened and learned something. The kava water was one of the worst things I've ever tasted but he forewarned me about that but the philosophy of blending the water with the practice of yoga is brilliant since they both offer similar calming effects. What I liked most was to see this man transformed by this and how it changed his life for the better. No matter how I feel about this entire philosophy the outcome was great for someone and that's gotta be good I figured.
