More Basel and lots of writing

Yes, I wrote about Art Basel last week and I’m mentioning it again this week because the actual Art Basel fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center was this past weekend.

I attended, as I always do with my best friend Monica who always scores VIP tickets thanks to her brother. He does the set up of all the lights and actual walls that go up for exhibitors.

Here’s what we saw and what I loved…

Early works by Andy Warhol, from the mid-1950s

This unique display of photos displayed on fabric hung from string lights resonated with me.

A great film depicting New York in the 1920s based on the Walt Whitman poem that’s displayed above it.

We also went to Design Miami which is always directly across the street where they feature beautiful and quirky furnishings and accessories outlandishly displayed. Some of them surely took our breath away.

And this week I spent it finishing up interviews and gathering photos for two more articles I had due for Biscayne Times. A profile on MPower Gym in Miami Shores and a roundup on classical music. I’ll share links to them once they’re published.

Then tomorrow is my birthday and I’m going to spend it delivering Star Wars light saber toys to a Toy Drive, driving down Enchanted Place here in North Miami to check out their gorgeous light display and attending a dance performance with my best friend Monica.

This week I also spent plenty of time in nature, visited the beach this morning and spent one morning making peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to deliver to a couple of the community fridges which were looking very empty. And last night I attended our North Miami tree lighting ceremony, sipping hot chocolate as the choir sang and the band played.

That’s it for this week. Have a good one, be well, be healthy and have a wonderful weekend and week!
