Listen before you judge, it could surprise you

I was skeptical of yet another appointment for an interview at another tanning salon, and one in a strip mall no less but there I went because duty called. Little did I know I would come away from my time at LA Tans with a completely different attitude.I arrived a little early and waited for owner Angie Spader who I was set to interview for the latest advertorial I was assigned to write for MyCityBeauty. She arrived, we met and quickly began chatting. I thought this would be a quick one -- ask her my questions, take a tour of the place and be on my way.Nothing could be further from the truth. As I spent more time with Angie I realized this woman means business after all, she has 30 years in the business and more than 27 certifications and of course, they're not all in the art of tanning. That's what impressed me most, they do so much more here.Aside from tanning, waxing, massages, scrubs, laser treatments and more, they have one incredible service. It's part of their Oncology and Aesthetics Package and is entitled "Surviving Cancer with an Attitude." I never thought this would be something a place called "LA Tans" would provide. Talk about a misnomer for a business. The services include:- Smoothing facial/facial rejuvenation to restore vitality for sensitive or stressed skin and to infuse the skin with therapeutic organic ingredients for healing and rejuvenation- Light touch massage/hand and feet light touch massage to aid in manual lymphatic drainage- Stress relief massage- Infrared Sauna which strengthens the cardiovascular system with deep infrared penetration and also detoxifies the body- Reflexology to relieve pain, nausea, vomiting and reduce stress and anxiety- Reiki used to treat ailments of the spiritual, emotional, energetic, mental and physical kind as well as provide a powerful radiant glow. They utilize Chinese herbs that are live DNA straight from the herb plant and when combined with facials is ideal for cancer patientsFinding out about this incredible package and the care that Spader and her staff take in their clients was an enlightening experience and so I write this post in the hopes of awakening other people to the possibility of a holistic approach and one that might be a life-changer.
