How I love thee, Yardbird Southern Table & Bar
I've been a fan of Yardbird Southern Table & Bar for so many years and have had so many countless amazing meals there that when I was invited to try their happy hour, I couldn't get there fast enough.
What was just as much fun as trying all their amazing food and cocktails was sitting at the table with so many fellow foodies. We shared great food, laughed, drank and shared some more!
Here's what we had...
A couple of cocktails...the featured one that night was the Watermelon Mojito which was so refreshing but when they offered me another of my choice I of course, went with the Old Fashioned. It was certainly fun to watch our personal mixologist create the mojito though.
Yardbird's all about the comfort food so what would a happy hour spread, or any order there for that matter be, without creamy, dreamy, cheesy, ooey, gooey mac 'n cheese. And that buttery bread crumb topping, heavenly. Always a winner at Yardbird.
Disco fries, you know the ones you order to soak up the many libations you might have on any given night out? Yardbird's are smothered in gravy and topped with tender shredded brisket and swiss cheese. Dare you to not eat the entire order, I dare you. That little pop of green on top? Adds flavor and could convince you you're getting your greens.
The bruschetta is served up bite size which is nice and makes it really easy to eat. It's great too by the way, because they use grilled farmer's bread, juicy roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, red onion for zip, fruity extra virgin olive oil and rich balsamic. The dainty colorful flowers give it a nice pop of color.
We also had some classics like bacon-wrapped jumbo shrimp topped with a mango chutney and melon & prosciutto with aged ham, lime and balsamic reduction. They were so good though, forgot to snap photos but believe me, they're worth ordering.
Keeping it decadent and traditional for dessert, they brought out nutella-filled-beignets topped with powdered sugar, every bite felt like I'd been transported to New Orleans. Also, an over the top, unforgettable peanut butter ice cream pie. It was cold, nutty, creamy and loaded with chocolate sauce and my favorite, lots and lots of fresh whipped cream.
Happy Hour is 4-7 p.m. and all these goodies are on their specially priced. I love their bourbon cocktails and those are part of the Happy Hour menu too!
