I recently read this poem at a weekly, and currently virtual gathering, called Naked Angels, a cold reading workshop that takes place from Sept. to May.
I’ve been attending it for a few years now and have only read one of my pieces one other time. Usually I attend so I can be cast in a script reading, it’s fun, I don’t have to learn lines, but it allows me to channel my inner actress (LOL!)
Anyways…here’s what I read:
Feeling lonely lately?
Always been a bit anxious?
Then my heart goes out to you.
We’re in a weird time now.
Because with anxiety, usually comes fear.
If I’m fearful nowadays,
I can’t imagine how you’re feeling.
My heart goes out to you, and I understand.
I understand that you’re wondering,
More than most of us,
“When will this all end?”
Hang in there (I know you’re probably tired of hearing that)
Believe me, I read and hear the news and it’s bleak.
Therapists are busier than ever it seems.
Hearing about anxious…
Parents dealing with school conditions like never before all…
Sharing in their fear of the unknown
We’re all being bombarded with…
… This virus, this relentless virus
… The Black Lives Matter movement and that eye-opening experience we must not ignore
… The upcoming election and our country’s growing divisiveness
And all I can say is…
Hang in there, you got this.
Peace Out
