Heartbreak in Surfside

I took last Friday off from writing a post on this blog because we were off enjoying a vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

As we departed Miami on Thursday afternoon my heart was heavy, pretty much broken really.

The images. The round the clock updates. All about the devastating building collapse in Surfside that had just happened in the wee hours of the morning.

We’ve been going to the beach as a family in the lovely Town of Surfside for well over 15 years. It’s where I go in the early morning or late afternoon to take a dip, have breakfast in my beach chair and just take in the beautiful scenery.

Just 7 blocks from the spot where I usually sit on the beach is where the building collapsed. It’s eerie just thinking about it.

I just don’t know what to say. It’s heartbreaking. Since it happened I pray for healing for those family members and friends who lost loved ones. I pray for those first responders and the many, many volunteers that they have the strength to carry on with their tireless and much needed efforts.

This is going to sound cliche but I’m reminding myself each minute of the day to hold my family tighter and closer to my heart than ever before.

Thanks as always for reading, I truly appreciate YOU.

xoxo
