Getting busy around here

So things are getting busy around here again, here’s what’s going on:

As I mentioned last week, I got a few assignments for Fisher Island Magazine, a publication that’s making it’s comeback and that’s kept me busy this week. It’s been a lot of work but got one story down and the other almost done. Look forward to sharing with you once they’re published.

My son Nicholas is starting to get busy with Special Olympics again and has his first regional softball competition next weekend in Port St. Lucie. He’s been practicing with the team and working hard at catching those fly balls and grounders in practice. He tells me the fly balls are pretty tough.

Yesterday I finally was able to have a nice glass of white wine and some delicious cookies at one of my favorite neighborhood spots Paradis Books & Bread. Chatted with one of the owners for a while and even ran into a friend from high school. It was a nice break from a very busy day. Thursdays are when I spend the morning cooking meals for the church.

Just a few minutes ago when I got home, I heard some birds squawking nearby and remembered my friend Eugenia posted about some parrots she spotted in a tree near her house. Well, I grabbed the binoculars, went outside and dang if those weren’t parrots in the very, very tall pine trees behind our house. Very cool sight.

I’m also super excited to see plays coming back not only in Miami (“Hadestown” and “Hairspray” here we come!) but Broadway’s coming back too. Definitely planning a trip to the Big Apple to catch David Byrne’s “American Utopia” which has come back. Saw the movie version and loved it so very excited to see it live and in person!

This weekend I’m probably going to finish watching “Friday Night Lights” on Netflix. Never saw it when it was on NBC and am totally addicted. I actually can’t wait to re-watch it!

That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend and week. Be well and thanks for reading!
