Christmas is just days away

And I’m ready for it! I’m a kid at heart for everything Christmas even though the holiday also stirs up memories of my Mom who we lost 20 years ago this Dec. 26th. Love you and miss you Mom. The 26th is also my great nephew Mazen’s birthday so it’s a bittersweet day.

As I mentioned last week, I was seeing Miami City Ballet’s The Nutcracker on Sunday night and that performance was just as magical as the one on Saturday night.

Monday I spent a lot of time wrapping presents and at night, after picking up a gift for my great nephew Jojo and picking up the leftover food from Panera in Aventura I drove down Enchanted Place in North Miami. I can’t get enough of the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Wednesday I spent some time shopping for Christmas presents and went to trivia at night where Elizabeth and I held our own. Although we didn’t come in first or second we still did pretty good.

Dainty Christmas decorations I saw on my walk.

Love the Spanish moss on this tree, it’s one of my favorites on one of my favorite streets!

Yesterday I took a long leisurely walk through my favorite area and later, my sister Mari took me out for a belated birthday lunch. We went to Flanigan’s right near my house where I ordered the fish tacos and she had the half rack of ribs, her favorite. We each enjoyed a Jack n Coke and enjoyed chatting and even getting to know our server. Afterwards, we headed to Dollar Tree where I picked up some tissue paper which I needed for more gifts I needed to wrap.

This afternoon I took a really nice walk with Vance and then tonight I was planning to go see the singing tree at Gulfstream Park Village instead chose to walk just a few blocks to Griffing Park and attend the Winter Wonderland Festival. I got to hear some great local singers perform lots of holiday favorites and also the kids give tell their Christmas wishes to the evening’s host. Santa made his grand entrance, arriving by fire truck and the kids all got so excited. I could’ve gone to the Miami Heat game with Nick and Vance but I’m glad I went to the event. I loved singing along and looking at all the twinkly decorations.

Afterwards, I got in my car and was on the hunt for some Farm Stores Eggnog but both stores near my house were completely out (insert sad face here). Oh well, I’ll try again next week.

And before I go, I wanted to suggest if you haven’t yet seen a Nutcracker performance, Dance Now! Miami is performing their reimagined version called “Clara” tomorrow night at Sanctuary of the Arts. Click here to read about it.

That’s all for this week. I’ve got pretty much all my food shopping done for next week when we host Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the family. I’m looking forward to having everyone over.

Happy Holidays to all and I’ll see you next Friday.
