A veritable feast during tour at CityPlace Doral
Unfortunately, Perinola has abruptly closed.
It was truly a tour around CityPlace Doral with our meeting spot being at the front of the open-air dining/entertainment complex and working its way around the perimeter to the all the dining establishments there.
We kicked things off at the newest restaurant at CityPlace Perinola South American Table and Bar (where the Rusty Bucket used to be). It was interesting to dine at a spot that serves up all types of South American cuisine, including Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina and Colombia.
The cocktails, the Nevada del Ruiz margarita and Lil Bourbon, the latter a creation by the bar manager, were spicy (the pepper rim on the margarita had some bite) and tasty (I love my bourbon).
Then the repping started, with dishes from so many of those aforementioned countries including a trio of ceviches made with passion fruit, yellow pepper and rocoto and rocoto shrimp (Peru), tostones topped with chicken, shredded beef and avocado (this could be just about any South American country really) and an entire meat platter with tender steak and sausages of all kinds (definitely Argentina).
The tour then proceeded to Novecento where we were directed upstairs to their beautiful event room that overlooks the CityPlace Doral's centerpiece fountain. There we had a selection of empanadas stuffed with either beef, spinach or bechamel and they were all good. We then had the beautifully presented octopus atop mashed potatoes and topped with parmesan cheese presented on a spoon. We finished this stop with chorizo bruschetta with aioli. Yum.
The final stop for me (I missed the last stops to Copper House Blues, Martini Bar and KINGS Entertainment), was at Brimstone Woodfire Grill. Honestly, I was sorry to miss the last three stops but with the amount of food that came out at Brimstone, I truly was done for the night.
The beautifully colorful and delectable poke tuna stack with fresh tuna and creamy avocado was the perfect way to start. Here we also had tostones mixtos, fried green plantains topped with chicken, chicharron or short rib served with chimichurri, roasted pepper sauce and jalapeno cream. Then came out the showstopper, the tender steak served with creamy mac 'n cheese. We had the NY strip but they also have the filet and bone-in ribeye.
The mammoth slice of decadent, moist, downright dreamy bread pudding was also amazing and the perfect dessert after that meal. Very, very shareable.
The tour was truly a great representation of all the diverse cuisine they're serving up at CityPlace Doral.
