View and food are great at Beach House Pompano

This blog is mostly about my food adventures (and soon to come, adventures of other kinds), around Miami. However, it's nice to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. That's why when I heard about Beach House Pompano opening at the Pompano Beach Pier I jumped at the chance to dine there. It also was a good opportunity to invite along a longtime friend Antoinette who lives in Fort Lauderdale. Let me tell you, we both loved the place.Pompano Beach is not an area I'm familiar with but this new restaurant at the revamped pier is a stunner.During their soft opening for friends, family and media they had a limited menu, a preview of what they would be featuring on the permanent menu.We chose to start off with the tuna poke surf stack, a perfect round of sushi grade tuna atop avocado and crispy wontons on ponzu sauce and topped with colorful pickled ginger and cute wavy dollops of sour cream and wasabi. The sprinkling of sesame seeds added a nice crunch. The wontons were also an unexpected surprise and a different element. It was quite nice.As my entree I chose the simple and expertly prepared cilantro key lime chicken, an all-natural half chicken topped with a bright cilantro key lime sauce and served with a side of potato hash. The sauce added a unique touch to the chicken and is something not often seen paired together. It worked well.Once we were done with our meal, it was nice to walk around this very large two-story restaurant and explore the different areas. The second floor is a great place to come and watch sports and enjoy a beer or a cocktail. The lighting throughout the restaurant is also rather elegant.Outside on the bottom floor there's a lovely deck with cnsloded but open air seating areas with cushioned sofa benches and tables. The waterfront view is idyllic and the planters with succulents add a beautiful element of soft color.Beach House Pompano is a great place to come for lunch or dinner with a killer beachfront view and a pretty pier that's the perfect spot to take a walk on.Beach House Pompano, 270 N.
