Regina's Grocery debuts at Urbanica The Meridian Hotel

Having the opportunity to return to the quaint hotel in SoFi (south of Fifth Street on South Beach) where I'd attended an event a while back, I jumped at the chance to attend the grand opening of Regina's Grocery at Urbanica The Meridian Hotel.

I remembered they had the coolest check-in area where a vintage suitcase display was part of the front desk. You'll have to go see it and tell me it's not one of the coolest, most unique front desks you've ever seen.

At the Regina's opening they were doling out sandwiches, meatballs and parmesan cheese plus charcuterie including meats and olives that they use in the sandwiches plus, plenty of beer and wine.

The menu is an homage to owner Roman Grandinetti and his mother Regina's, family members. They opened the first Regina's in New York's Lower East side and came up with names like Cousin Vinny, Uncle Rocco, Cousin Stephen and Lil Phil. Take a look at the menu, there are plenty of other great names believe me, there's no shortage of sandwiches here.

Sandwich ingredients run the gamut from smoked chicken, prosciutto, smoked ham and Genova Italian tuna to fresh mozzarella, provolone, Regina's pesto and caponata and the classics...mortadella and hot soppressata. Of course, they've also got meatballs, tender, delicious meatballs.

Gradinetti's uncle had ties in Miami so it was always his plan to expand to Miami. Luckily, they decided on this wonderful property where guests can now get their fix of authentic Italian deli food. The outpost is located in the lobby.

And I suggest once you've had your fill at Regina's you check out the adorable Minibar also at the hotel and just a few short steps away for some amazing cocktails.
