Love mac 'n cheese? You'll love I Heart Mac 'n Cheese

I don't get up to Broward County much but when I was asked to come check out I Heart Mac 'n Cheese at their Pembroke Pines location I was thrilled to try it. Pembroke Pines is just one of their many locations in Broward County.

I love mac 'n cheese so was excited to sample a few of their options, including a few vegan ones.

Now there's nothing fancy about I Heart, this is a fast-casual spot but rest assured, the mac 'n cheese is legitimate.

It's nice that you can build your own mac 'n cheese bowl, there are lots and lots of options. Choose from pasta, quinoa, broccoli, cauliflower or tater tots as your base. Then choose a sauce (there are nine) and they include options like sesame ginger, mango habanero, pesto, buffalo and other traditional popular choices.

Next move on to the vegetables where choices include roasted red peppers, corn, celery, scallions, tomatoes, pickles, broccoli, mushrooms, onions or carrots. Then finally, your protein. Pick grilled or crispy chicken, meatballs, ground beef, pepperoni, ham, bacon, short rib or pulled pork. Tender lobster is $5 extra. Then top it all with cheese, choose from one of eight.

Here's what my bowl looked like and the rest of the afternoon's lunch spread:

Obviously, the bowl with the fork in it is my mac 'n cheese bowl but...I also tried a vegan bowl. I chose the beyond sausage, quinoa, corn, tomato, red onion and lots of other veggies for my very filling meal. In the smallish bowl are pictured what was left of the mac bites. There are four mac bite choices including plain, pepperoni, buffalo chicken and lobster. I opted for the plain. They're good.

And for something sweet, don't pass up on their chocolate chip cookies.

The cute spot will give you your fill of all things mac 'n cheese and more, and there are plenty of cities to find them in around Broward County.
