Look to Stefano Versace for more than just gelato

Chances are you've had gelato from Stefano Versace since they've got locations in Aventura and International Malls and in Wynwood and Key Biscayne. They're also expanding to Coconut Grove and Sunny Isles but now you can also enjoy lunch there, at their Brickell location Stefano Versace Bistro Cafe.

Walk in and you'll immediately see their extensive selection of homemade gelatos but save that for later. First, sit down and have a bite, they've got fresh salads, vegetarian options, soups and fresh juices.

I had a tough time deciding what to order because it all sounded good but ended up having their soup of the day which was lentil and their zucchini avocado pesto noodles.

The soup portion was perfect and the light consistency but hearty ingredients, with so many vegetables, a delicate broth and my favorite, the lentils were a nice starter to my meal.

Then the noodles arrived and again, it was a perfect lunch portion. The tender zucchini noodles were the perfect pasta imposter and the avocado pesto was a unique surprise. It was refreshing and light and the bright red peppers and carrot added color and texture. The cute micro greens added another element of flavor bringing the whole dish together.

I highly recommend also trying the tuna tartare which I saw someone else order and immediately thought, "I've gotta come back and have that." The colorful stack of tuna and fresh avocado topped with black and white sesame seeds and carrot strings, all nestled atop a bed of micro greens looked so tempting I'm thinking about it right now.

Aside from all this great food and that creamy gelato, the Brickell Bay Drive location combined with their floor to ceiling windows and loft-like interior means great bay views. I sat on the second floor and enjoyed every minute of that view.

If you like what you've read, get here before Aug. 31 and take advantage of their two for one lunch special available on all items up to $14. They're calling it the "Power Hour Lunch."
