I shuddered at the shuttered businesses

Yesterday was my day to spend around Coral Gables. I had a few appointments in the area that were far enough apart that coming all the way home made no sense. As I was parking, driving and walking around the downtown area it hit me, there are so many shuttered businesses, mostly restaurants. As I looked around I realized several were in very close proximity. It was very frightening. So much for the economy rebounding, I thought.Like most people, I'm so done with the constant yo-yoing articles -- the economy's rebounding then no, no, no we're headed into a double recession. I just don't know what to believe anymore. But seeing those wooden boards and For Lease signs everywhere I've gotta say, rebound? What rebound? Sure, I saw plenty of rebounds recently, at the AAA during the Heat's crazy run to the championship, but definitely not with the economy. My only hope is that the next time I'm in the neighborhood, things won't look so bleak. And what was really bizarre is that just a few blocks away there are two huge Senior Luxury Condominium buildings going up. Go figure!
