Duo's piggy passion shows at Urban Smokehouse

Miami Smokers 1The dynamic duo of Miami Smokers, Chefs Andres Barrientos and James Bowers, have taken their passion for curing and bacon-making to Little Havana with their new Urban Smokehouse at 529 SW 12 Ave. Barrientos and Bowers recently introduced their space to bacon-loving foodie media in an intimate event where they showcased their curing facility and the equipment used to create their delectable candied bacon and smoked meats. They served up their awesome candied bacon in mason jars, pork belly sliders and bite size pumpkin pies topped with candied bacon and bits of queso fresco. These guys know their charcuterie and have created a controlled and monitored environment for chefs and local artisans to produce their own charcuteries. They already create bacon for several Miami area restaurants and businesses including The Federal, Blue Collar, Azucar Ice Cream Company, The Fontainebleau and the Biscayne Marriott.Even with their current clients the two, who are Miami natives and buddies from high school, are working on raising funds through their Kickstarter Campaign to complete their establishment. They are in need of coolers, a slicer/stacker and vacuum sealers. The campaign ends Jan. 3.The Urban Smokehouse has been embraced in the community, now they just need that extra support to get fully equipped so they can bring their smoky goodness to the masses around the 305.
