Bar Taco joins burgeoning Aventura community

Aventura is more than just the mall and lots of condominiums, there's a bustling small community called Aventura ParkSquare and Bartaco is a great addition.

Making it's way down from the Northeast - Bartaco has locations in Atlanta, Massachusetts, New York and many more cities - it opened in Aventura in September 2019. The minute I posted photos on social media, my nephew who lives in Atlanta piped in saying "they finally made it down there." Guess he's a fan, and I can see why, the food is delicious.

I love the atmopshere here, lots of light wood, floor to ceiling windows and lovely landscaped patio seating. Their dragonfly logo is pretty cute too.

The menu is split into five sections -- tacos, not tacos, rice bowls, sides and desserts. Wanting to try a little bit of everything, I chose from each of those except for a dessert.

I started with the chicken soup with a dark rich broth, tender pieces of chicken, corn cob rounds and chunks of potato and carrot all topped with refreshing cilantro. A squirt of lime over the top brightened it all up.

Fish taco, rice bowl and street corn

Then it was on to the simply prepared Baja fish taco, a spicy tempura-battered cod with chipotle slaw and cilantro filling a small tortilla. I also ordered the all-veggie portobello and queso fresco rice bowl. The base is brown rice and its served with crunchy sliced bell peppers and onions. The meaty portobello mushrooms were a great substitute for meat and the roasted poblanos and garlic added a nice smokey flavor.

Crunchy street corn on the cob with lime, cotija cheese and cayenne pepper was a great side.

It's nice that they have plenty of gluten-free options too. Next time you're in Aventura, check out Bartaco. It was buzzing when I went for lunch, probably because they've got good prices, great service and a relaxed atmosphere.
