Weekend fun poolside at Conrad Ft. Lauderdale Beach and lunch at Spinnaker Grill

Getting to spend Saturday sitting poolside with my best friend at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach was delightfully relaxing. The fact that it was her birthday made it extra special.

The luxurious beachfront resort offers the ultimate in views and ambiance. With the pool located on the sixth floor, we had views as far as the eye could of the beach across the street. It made lounging by the pool that much more decadent.

Let's get back to the pool though, and the comfy lounge chairs and cabanas, all situated on the same level as Spinnaker Grill. After arranging our towels and sunbathing essentials on said chairs, with a lovely wide umbrella to provide plenty of shade, we walked just a few steps to have lunch at Spinnaker Grill.

The place was buzzing but servers were wonderful at handling the busy crowd and were attentive to everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our Elderflower Cocktail and Strawberry Mule drinks prior to ordering our meal. The breeze was as nice as the beachfront backdrop. Insert ahhhhh here!

We ordered the heirloom tomatoes topped with olive tapenade over bitter greens with a fresh local burrata to share and that didn't last long, we ate every last bite. Creamy (the burrata), juicy (the tomatoes) and briny/salty (the tapenade) made every bite flavor packed. The Asian-style chicken lolipops with a delectably sweet, sticky sauce and sesame seeds were let's just say, way too tasty and easy to eat (not that I'm complaining), and the shishito peppers were a nice accompaniment.

We then chose the chicken skewers served over a simple sweet potato and corn salad and a refreshing and light ceviche served with crispy tostadas that offered the perfect crunch. Both were ideal for a warm day by the pool.

After lunch, we returned to our lounge chairs where I proceeded to order another Elderflower Cocktail (I couldn't resist they're so good) from a very nice server who brought it right over. We struck up a conversation with her as well as our lounge chair mate. All this after taking a dip in the pool.

All in all, it was a spectacular way to laze away the afternoon and enjoy the lovely amenities at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale. Next time you're on A1A and in need of a staycation, check them out.
